Hotep [1] sisters and brothers, and welcome to the website of the Black Women In the Fire Service (BWFS). We hope you find our site informative and resourceful. Please let us know if there is something you would like assistance with locating regarding the fire service or our organization. It is our honor and privilege to serve you, your community, and the fire service.

I bring you greetings and well wishes from the members of Black Women in the Fire Service.  We would like to thank you for visiting our web site, and hope that you will find our pages insightful, informative and inspiring.

From the beginning of our history into this millennium, Black women have been the nurturers, teachers, healers, supporters, and strength of our people; and we have fought and made the ultimate sacrifice.

We have committed our souls and ourselves to the fire service industry in the areas of suppression, EMS, communications, investigations, code enforcement, fleet and facilities maintenance, and management.  Because our struggles are unlike others in this industry, we have come together to form this organization; recognizing and addressing common issues, and striving to raise the awareness and consciousness of our colleagues and community.

We look forward to positively continuing the rich legacy formed by our fore bearers, upon whose shoulders we stand and owe our all.  As we endeavor to expand the realm of our opportunities and  fervently envision new horizons, we commit to "Recognize, Recruit, Retain" a new generation of Black Women in the Fire Service.

Peace and Blessings!

Pam Jackson, BWFS President
